This year, I want us to keep focusing on what matters most: supporting our associations, creating valuable opportunities for our members, and building a stronger national dynamic without losing the human side that defines our network. My ambition is not to promise everything, but to help make things work better, grow steadily, and ensure that every contribution finds its place”

At a glance: France Biotech’s 2026 HealthTech Panorama

France Biotech (a professional association uniting over 2600 companies) and their expert partners unveil the much-awaited 2026 France Healthtech Panorama.
Innovative health Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in France
Among 2,738 innovative health SMEs, 506 took part in France Biotech’s Panorama for 2025.

Overview of survey respondents
81% of the respondent companies were either biotechs (value based on a biological innovation such as a molecule or a target), digital health / AI companies (digital technologies applied to life science) or medtechs (diagnostic or therapeutic medical devices). 10% were CRO/CDMOs (providing R&D and manufacturing services).

Recruitment in the French Healthtech sector in 2025 and projections for 2026
The 500 companies included in the survey panel accounted for almost 15,000 of the 80,000 direct jobs offered by the sector in total. Recruitment levels were high in 2025, with 68% of companies hiring new staff and only 13% conducting lay-offs. An estimated 1,189 staff will be hired by the respondents in 2026!

Overview of business segments
The majority of surveyed companies commercialise products (41%) or both products and services (47%) while service-only providers were rare. Almost half of the companies develop innovative medical devices and/or focus
on products or solutions for human healthcare.

A strong progression for AI and digital health
The digital health solutions sector was highly diverse in terms of technologies and fields of application. Big data and data analysis solutions were up 7 points compared to 2024, overtaking digital/ computer-aided diagnostics. Two main challenges remain in the way of widespread adoption of digital solutions: market access through reimbursements and hospital purchasing, and interoperability with existing softwares.

Some of the challenges expected by BpiFrance for 2026
Here are some of the challenges and key areas of development highlighted by BpiFrance in their analysis:
- Regarding medical devices: digital and robotics innovations are set to transform surgery, IVD MD players need to innovate to remain competitive
- Regarding digital medical and digital tools: health data structuration remains a key challenge, there is yet little clinical evidence or proof of real-world organisational impact of digital technologies in certain applications (for example in mental health) but work is underway
- Regarding therapies: the RNA and oligonucleotide segment continues to grow, an integrated One Health approach is essential, French CDMOs need support in the face of financial difficulties, there remains a major need for effective mental health therapies
