The Réseau BIOTechno, represents today 17 young researchers non-profit associations in France and has been organising the BIOTechno Forums for the past 21 years in different cities in France.
The BIOTechno Forums are onde-day events dedicated to shaping the future career of young researchers in the biotech sector. The objective of these events is to bring together young researchers and private companies, to inform young researchers of the career possibilities open to them after completing their PhD, accompany and help them to define their career project and promote interactions between young researchers, industry, consulting firms and startups in the fields of biopharma, healthcare and agriculture. The different activities proposed during these events (keynote presentations, roundtables, networking meetings, recruitment workshops, company booths…) promote the interaction between young researchers and professionals ( private companies, from big pharma to small startups and research organisms).

Une année 2018 riche en activités
This year we have organised 2 big BIOTechno Forums: the Forum BIOTechno Auvergne Rhone-Alpes, on the 5th of june 2018 at the World Trade Center in Grenoble, and the Forum BIOTechno Paris, on the 11th of june 2018 at the Espace Saint Martin. These events brought together more than 500 young researchers and invited professionals.

Among them Pierre Monsan, Emeritus professor at the INSA (French National Institute of Applied Sciences), founder and director of TWB biotech company and president of the French Biotechnologies Federation, sponsor of the Paris BIOTechno Forum, shared with us his vision of current trends in biotechnology and the key success factors in his sector.
Bernard Vanhove, immunology PhD and current General, R&D and international communications Director of OSE immunotherapeutics, sponsor of the Auvergne Rhone-Alpes Forum, inspired us with his fascinating career and shared the high value created by public-private partnerships.
Our guest of honour, Claudie Haigneré, Counselor at the European Space Agency, MD and PhD, ex-astronaut and ex-Minister for Research and Technologies, among other experiences and honorary titles, shared with us the main elements of her excellent career path during an interactive exchange with the participants.
Moreover, our 55 private and institutional partners shared their newest technologies, services and recruitment offers on their booths, contributing to the creation of a great biotech ecosystem.

The BIOTechno Paris team also organised complementary activities destined to young researchers throughout the whole year. Thanks to them we and the opportunity to visit the laboratories of Sanofi, Servier and L’oréal, and exchange and discuss with private companies professionals during the 3 Networking Events organised at the Imagine institute, Sorbonne University and the Brain and Spine Institute.
Our dynamic community develops the connexion and experience exchange between young researchers and private companies professionals, and widens the career opportunities for young scientists, contributing to their employability after the PhD.
The BIOTechno International Forum - an ambition for the future
We are young entrepreneurial researchers, and our ambition is to open the professional perspectives of young researchers beyond the borders of our country. It is why we had imagined an International BIOTechno Forum, to give a new dimension to our events.
Given our objective of organising a high quality event, with many professionals coming from different biotech companies and structures, from all around the globe, our motivated team of young researchers worked hard during many months on this project.
However, after a fruitful 2017 that suggested a good change of success for such a big project, with many partnerships and a broad reach of our events, 2018 seemed slightly different, and the job market for young scientists didn’t seem to have the same expectations. This translated into very few companies interested in becoming partners for the International BIOTechno Forum, despite their interest in our national events. A redesign of this events is thus necessary, to ensure a great success.
We are thus sadly announcing that the International BIOTechno Forum will not be held in 2018, like previously communicated.
However, the Réseau BIOTechno will continue to be a major player in the construction of career paths beyond academic research and will keep innovating in the projects and contents that we propose.
